If a love of coffee or tea has left stains on your teeth over the years, you may have tried buying whitening toothpastes, mouthwashes, or gels from your local drugstore to improve the color of your pearly whites. As you may have noticed, though, many of these products simply aren’t potent enough to tackle deep-set stains in your enamel. Fortunately, at Little Rock Family Dental Care, we offer ZOOM! teeth whitening to help you attain a brighter smile quickly and easily. Whether you choose to whiten your smile in our office or in the comfort of your own home, our dentists can hell you achieve the results you want. Contact us today to learn more!
If you want to dramatically whiten your smile in an hour or less, you may be a good candidate for in-office ZOOM! whitening. During this procedure, we isolate your teeth to protect the soft tissues in your mouth from the powerful bleaching gel. We then apply the hydrogen peroxide gel to your teeth and activate it by shining a light on it. The gel begins permeating the enamel to break down the stubborn stains in the underlying dentin. After 15 minutes or so, we wipe off the gel, and the stains come right off with it! We can repeat this process a couple of times until you’re happy with the results.
Take-home whitening uses the same bleaching gel as in-office treatment, but lets you brighten your grin while relaxing at home. By wearing customized trays filled with the gel for 20-30 minutes every day, you’ll begin to notice a difference right away. Most patients achieve the same results as an in-office treatment after about two weeks of using the trays daily.
The primary advantage of seeking whitening treatment from a cosmetic dentist is that your results will be much more dramatic than they would be if you used store-bought products instead. Our treatments contain much stronger ingredients than over-the-counter options. In addition, professional whitening is safer. By either isolating your teeth with a dental dam (in-office) or creating personalized trays (take-home), we protect your lips and gums from becoming irritated by the gel. Lastly, we can customize the gel to reduce the sensitivity that’s typical of cheap whitening treatments.
Besides using the take-home trays for a touch-up every now and then, there are a few things you can do to make your results last:
